Two games into their Munster Championship campaign, Tipperary already look in danger of crashing out of provincial competition.

Liam Cahill's side have taken just one point from their opening two fixtures of the round robin, suffering a heavy defeat against Limerick before securing a scrappy draw against Waterford.

They head into this weekend's game against Cork knowing that another defeat is likely to all but end their Munster campaign. Of course, their opponents will come into this fixture with a pep in their step on the back of their win over Limerick last time out.

Liam Cahill uses odd analogy to sum up recent Tipperary struggles

Tipperary will have the added bonus of home advantage for this weekend's game, with a large crowd expected in Thurles for the game. Liam Cahill is hoping to get the full backing of the home crowd, although he has admitted that his team have not given them a whole lot to shout about in recent times.

Speaking to the Nenagh Guardian, the Tipperary boss used a rather odd analogy to sum up the county's recent struggles.

All we want is to make Thurles a real colosseum again and these boys will perform.

I will say to Tipperary supporters, get in behind them, support them and try and future-proof Tipperary hurling going forward and hopefully pick up a bit of silverware.

I know we’ve probably chugged along at times on dirty petrol as they say if it was a car, but we try so hard in training and it has to come out eventually on the field.

That's certainly one way to put up.

A victory will be necessary for Tipperary in order to keep their championship hopes alive this weekend. With Cork in the same boat, it should make for a cracking contest in Thurles.
