Watching your biggest rivals in an All-Ireland final can never be a pleasant experience, especially when your own season fell well short of expectations. That is the scenario that Mayo find themselves in this weekend, with Galway taking on Armagh for the Sam Maguire at Croke Park.
The two Connacht counties have one of the fiercest rivalries in the GAA, one that has produced countless classic games down through the years. While there was always likely to be some good natured banter in the buildup to this summer's final, some were surprised to see Mayo's response on social media.
The county's social media account would share a message wishing their neighbours all the best against Armagh.
All-Ireland football final weekend brings friends and families together from across the country and across the globe for the GAA pinnacle each year. While our fierce rivals Galway means many will be hoping Sam Maguire comes across the Shannon once again this year. Galway corner… pic.twitter.com/gguAPRRRzZ

That move has certainly split opinion.

Lee Keegan Not Impressed With Mayo Tweet Before All-Ireland Final
The replies to that post would certainly suggest that the well wishes from Mayo do not extend from everyone within the county, with quite a few of their fans hoping that Galway come home from Croke Park empty-handed.
Lee Keegan was asked about the tweet on RTÉ this afternoon, with the Westport man hinting that he was not necessarily in agreement with the sentiment that it shared.
I can tell you one thing, someone got fired during the week so they did.
They were nearly too gracious I think. There's still a bit of hate there.
I think the important thing is that there's a respect for what this team have done and what they've come through.
In saying that, they will always be our rivals. There are still a couple of Mayo flags hanging up there at the border.
That is an opinion that quite a few Mayo people will share.
Until they get the All-Ireland monkey off their back, they were likely hoping that Galway experience many of the same problems.
