The Leinster football championship has gotten a lot more interesting this autumn. And it's gotten a lot more Kerry-fied. Jack O'Connor has taken over Kildare. Paul Galvin has taken over Wexford. And today, multiple media organisations are reporting that Laois are set to appoint Kerryman Mike Quirke as its manager for the 2020 season.
On his podcast with the Examiner and various other media platforms, Quirke comes off as an erudite and considered thinker on gaelic football. Quirke played basketball with Tralee and intercounty with the Kingdom from 2004-2011. He has no experience with intercounty management.
Quirke is set to replace fellow Kerryman John Sugrue.
At 6 feet 6 inches tall, Quirke might be the tallest man to be an intercounty manager.
Laois Today are reporting that Laois County Board will ratify the appoint in the next few days.
