Kobe McDonald has once again shown that talent runs in the family, as he inspired Mayo to a 2-13 to 2-7 win over Roscommon in the opening round of the Connacht Minor Football Championship.
The son of Mayo Gaelic football legend Ciarán McDonald, who is now now head coach of the Mayo minors, Kobe hit a series of spectacular scores on the night, reaching a personal total of 1-5 by the end of the game.
One brilliant point in the 13th minute has gained traction online, with people seriously impressed by what they have seen from the Crossmolina youngster. He didn't do it all himself, as he linked up well with Evan Walsh, while a total of eight Mayo players contributed to the score from play.

Kobe McDonald reminiscent of Ciarán
McDonald's kicks from distance are eerily reminiscent of his father, who was one of the faces of the GAA during his 13-year career with Mayo in the 1990s and 2000s.
It was a seamless step up in grade for McDonald who starred last summer as his club Mayo U16 A champions with a 4-11 to 2-10 win over Castlebar Mitchels in the final. On that occasion, he scored 2-5 of Crossmolina's total haul, giving an early indication of the talent Mayo have on their hands.
An outrageous score on that day had everyone talking, as he collected a kickout near the far sideline about 40 seconds into the game before soloing past four opposing players and kicking a wonderful point off his right boot.
Kobe has clearly inherited some of that skill from his father and the Mayo youngsters can keep improving, perhaps he can do what Ciarán couldn't an bring a senior All-Ireland medal back to the McDonald household.
