Footage emerged earlier today of somebody wearing a Clare tracksuit swiping the sliotars from Anthony Nash's goal before the Munster final, before chucking them into the crowd. Cork were unimpressed by such pre-game finagling, and were reportedly pondering lodging a complaint with the Munster Council.
RTE Sport are reporting that the story has taken another turn this evening, with Cork manager Kieran Kingston accepting an apology from Clare co-manager Donal Moloney over the incident.
The Cork County Board Chairman told Marie Crowe of RTE that they have accepted the apology,
The Clare county board made contact with us to apologise and Donal Moloney contacted Kieran Kingston today also.
He very much regrets that it happened and it was something that they didn’t sanction but they are aware of who is involved. It is a matter for them to deal with.
The Clare management team, for their part, told RTE that they were disappointed over the entire incident, stressing that it should never have happened.
The full report is on the RTE Sport website.
