Reigning Monaghan champions Scotstown started the defence of their title successfully over the weekend. They defeated Carrickmacross by three points in the first round on Sunday evening.
Scotstown had to come from six points down in the first half to claim the win. After going into the break with a four-point deficit, Scotstown scored 1-7 without reply.
That goal came via Kieran Hughes - one of numerous county stars playing in the game.
20 minutes into the second half, Hughes - who scored 1-3 in total - made a monster catch and then rounded the Carrick keeper (there may have been a couple of extra steps) before blasting the ball to the net.
