Malachy Clerkin in Saturday's Irish Times had a brilliant line about Kieran Donaghy, saying he's "the tenner Kerry have kept finding in the arse pocket of their jeans." It perfectly summed up the Tralee man's role with Kerry this year. He came off the bench against Mayo in the first All-Ireland semi-final to rescue his side when many thought he was done and dusted and that bringing him on was simply a last desperate throw of the dice from Eamonn Fitzmaurice.
After yesterday's All-Ireland final win, where he again majorly contributed to the Kerry cause, he gave an emotional interview to RTÉ Radio, giving his wife major credit for keeping him going through recovery from injury.
