Kerry welcome newly crowned McKenna Cup champions Derry to Austin Stack Park for the first round of the Allianz Football League on Saturday. Here's everything you need to know about Kerry vs Derry.

In a repeat 0f the 2023 All Ireland semi final Mickey Harte's Derry side will look to build on their 2nd McKenna Cup Final win in a row after overcoming Donegal and in doing so gain revenge for their semi final defeat last year.

Harte was buoyant but cautious of Kerry after he claimed his first silverware as Derry manager and 13th McKenna Cup in total

"Ah, its always important to win games and the more people win games the more confidence they get. But it also has to get yourself prepared for the fact that life can change very quickly. And from one week of a McKenna Cup Final which is good and you enjoy the winning, you go now and you meet a team, a hungry team from Kerry who want to get home points. It's a different ball game."

Kerry on the other hand will be looking to bounce back from their McGrath Cup final loss on penalties versus Cork. Manager Jack O'Connor has opted to test his squad depth in the opening weeks of the season giving a first start to Austin Stacks wing back Armin Heinrich on Saturday while midfielder Joe O'Connor has played every game so far after returning from his anterior cruciate ligament injury this season.
