Any old nag wouldn't do John Mullane. As he said on Morning Ireland this week, he wants a top trainer to provide a horse if Waterford win the All-Ireland and he has to go through with the commitment he made just prior to the Championship throw-in. Jim Bolger, Aidan O'Brien, Willie Mullins have all been put on notice.
Back in May, Mullane - live on radio - said that if the Deise claimed this year's All-Ireland, he'd 'jump on a horse in the nude and go down the Quays'.

Speaking at the launch of the eir Sports Book of the Year 2017 on Thursday, Mullane's former inter-county teammate Ken McGrath joked that if Galway are defeated on Sunday, Mullane might give those populating O'Connell Street a preview of his promise.
The horse!! We were doing a thing over in Coppers last night about the final and the whole thing was about the horse again. I don't know how he gets himself into these situations. If we win on Sunday and you give him enough vodka and Red Bull he could be on the horse up O'Connell Street.
Look, Mullane is doing well on the radio and he's good auld craic. Obviously, he played in my era and we had some great characters on that team. He's like any of us, he realises that we had our chance and we didn't take it but this is this team's chance. I think that's the way it should be. Look, he's Derek's brother in law obviously.
McGrath also added that Mullane - who has said he would like there to be a charity element to the antic - has been training. Mullane fears a few pounds have been added to his figure in recent times.
He said that in May, it might come back to haunt him. He's doing a bit of training because he thinks he's after putting on a bit of a belly. He'll have the mock tan on and he'll draw a six-pack! Ah he's good craic and his sign is everywhere, 'I loves me county'.
We had some great characters on that team. It was a different time but I know every one of them will be up at the weekend and they can't wait for it. If we win it'd be great, it's been too long.
