Mayo fans were left confused this afternoon, as Keith Higgins appeared to write a farewell note on his phone and post it on twitter in order to announce his retirement from inter-county football.

While most seemed to immediately put it down to a hoax, or someone stealing his phone and trolling the people of Mayo, it seems that some also genuinely believed that he had decided to call it a day, maybe it was the hashtag #callingitaday.
While we were left waiting for an explanation, Mayo GAA were quick to ease the fears of their worried supporters as they confirmed that Higgins hadn't retired:
Thankfully we can say that Keith Higgins HAS NOT retired from Inter-County Football and we're looking forward to seeing him back soon! #gaa

And finally the man himself declared himself available for selection once again, as he posted a picture of himself of a Mystery Tour with the hashtag #gullible.
After a lot more soul searching I've decided to come out of retirement #mysteryour #gullible #craicisgood pic.twitter.com/H1HGoE2EZY

Had he actually decided to call it quits, it wouldn't be the first terrible decision made on a Mystery Tour, that's for sure.
