O'Connor Park in Tullamore filled with Carlow fans following the final whistle against Kildare on Sunday. It was a joyous moment for Carlow, their first win against Kildare since 1953 had been claimed - it was only their second ever win against their neighbours. While the crowd in attendance went wild, those listening at home were treated to some equally passionate commentary from KCLR96fm's Brendan Hennessy and Willie Quinlan.
In particular, the lads fully lost their minds when Conor 'Horse' Lawlor scored Carlow's second goal, thus putting the game beyond all doubt. Hennessy's commentary was sublime:
Look who's coming forward, Horse Lawlor, he can wrap it up in Tullamore, Horse goes for the shot - it's in the back of the net!! It's in the back of the net!! Oh it's in the back of the net!!Oh my word, Carlow have blown Kildare away. They've blown them away in Tullamore - the Kildare crowd are leaving.
They thought they were playing no one today. They wrote us off on Twitter, they wrote them off everywhere. 2-14 to 1-10. This is Carlow's day. I hope we're enjoying this one.
You definitely sounded like you were enjoying it anyhow, Brendan.
