The GAA inter-county season runs primarily from February to September.
But outside of that, the GAA news cycle is kept going via other means. In early October, for instance, we have the draw for following year's championship, which is closely followed by the controversy surrounding why have the draw for the following year's championship so early.
Then, we have to run off the club championships, which is invariably accompanied by a debate over why the fixture timetable is so congested. Various altruistic souls will make suggestions about how to make the whole thing fairer to club players. Nothing will done about these.
In the lead-up to Christmas, there is autobiography season, talk of rule change proposals to be brought up a the next congress and various rumours about teams training at 7am in the morning.
And round about now, we have holiday season, where victorious teams get pictures with international celebrities in exotic foreign locations. And the wheel keeps turning...
This year, Edwin Van Der Sar had the pleasure of spending his time chilling with the Kilkenny hurlers. This has been the talk of Miami for a couple of days now. And a video has emerged. Well done if you can pick out everyone.
