UCC reached the quarter-finals of the Electric Ireland HE Freshers 1 Football Championship with a one-point victory over local rivals MTU Cork at the Mardyke on Thursday night. A goal from Kerry forward Jordan Kissane was key to the UCC win.
UCC trailed by four points when Kissane, who plays for Tralee club Austin Stacks, picked up the ball on his own half-back line.
The Kerry U20 player cut through the MTU Cork defence at speed, getting the better of seven defenders before swivelling and putting a left-footed shot to the roof of the net.
UCC went on to win the game 2-13 to 3-9.

The speed displayed by Kissane will be of no surprise to keen watchers of Irish athletics. In 2019, he won the National U17 200m indoors title. He has clearly found a way to effectively translate that pace to the football pitch.
