It was a bitter sweet night for John Small and his brother, Paddy, yesterday after they claimed the Dublin Division One League final with Ballymun Kickhams after the death of their father, Declan, earlier this month.
However, the night was made all the more special given it was a John Small point at the death that handed the North Dublin side a one-point win. Moreover, the brothers were joint captains of the side and were therefore afforded the opportunity to lift the cup at Parnell Park.
Their late father had played a pivotal role in the development of the club over the last 25 years as the club grew to become one of the most dominant forces on the Dublin club scene.

Last night they were up against county champions Ballyboden St Enda's who are facing into an All-Ireland club semi-final in January versus Kilcoo. They were also attempting go a calendar year unbeaten.
Unfortunately for the South Dublin outfit, their aspirations of going through 2019 unbeaten were dashed when the Dublin intercounty star stepped up in the 64th minute to seal a 0-9 to 0-8 win.
