The Meath Chronicle reports that Meath full-forward and handy Rugby League player Joe Sheridan is to line out for the Soldiers of Destiny at the next local election. The old Publican or Politician conundrum is one many GAA players have wrestled with down the years (in the old days you used to be able to do both). The main question now is whether Sheridan will be the next Jack Lynch or the next Graham Geraghty. The latter ran for Fine Gael in 2007 and was hotly tipped to get in with one pundit, Sarah Carey, observing that Graham Geraghty could run for the Communist party in Meath and get elected. Sadly, Geraghty chose to run for Fine Gael and didn't get in. It's only the locals for Sheridan as of yet so perhaps he'll have better luck...
