Joe Brolly was the featured guest on the new Yates On Sunday programme yesterday and after a long conversion on organ donation, sectarianism, Colm Cooper and fear of nordies, Yates sounded out Brolly on his interest in one day moving to the Phoenix Park and serving as An Uachtarain. Brolly has been linked with the role in the past, though we think this is the first time he's spoken about his potential candidacy publicly.
He answered Yates's questions with typical Brolly panache: batting the question away while making it seem plain that the role interested in him.
Balls.ie pollsters tell us that the constituencies of Kerry North and Kerry South have already voted against Brolly.
Transcript is below. You can listen to the whole interview here.
Yates: Final question. Joe Brolly for president -- GAA or the Republic of Ireland -- on your agenda ever?

Yates: Are you going to stand as President?
Brolly: Well I haven’t said that.
Yates: But you might!?!
Brolly: Well...somebody needs to do something.
