Joe Brolly hasn't been a Sunday Independent columnist long but he's already essential reading. Today, Brolly unloads on the draconian measures taken by county boards and managers across the country in controlling inter county players.
The recent Davy O'Halloran revelations about the disciplanary action taken against him and Nicky O'Connell in Clare added to Off The Ball's Colm Parkinson revealing one inter county team's code of conduct has put the issue front and center of the GAA world and Brolly wants players to take their lives back.
Have a drink now and again if you feel like it. Go out with your friends. Tell them a bit of crack from training. If the mood takes you, wear green white and gold goddamn boots. If one of your number is singled out, stand with him. Show some real loyalty.
Can anyone argue with that sentiment?
