The new proposed rules being introduced by Jim Gavin and the Football Rules Committee is causing a lot of debate among fans, players, pundits and journalists.
This Friday we will finally get to see them in action as a Railway Cup style competition will showcase them live on TV for everyone to see and judge for themselves.
Of course this will lead to more debate and more discussion, and there are plenty of opinions going around regarding the impact that these changes could have.
However, before these proposals were even revealed to the public, Gavin had already fleshed out some of these ideas with Derry legend Joe Brolly.
The Ulsterman has long been an advocate for change in Gaelic football, and wants to see some extreme changes made in order to see the game become more exciting again.
However he does not necessarily agree with the Dublin native's ideas, and it all came to a head at a wake a few years ago, as Brolly explains in his Irish Independent column.

"At Pat Gilroy’s mother’s wake a few years ago, Jim and I got into an animated debate in the front hall about solutions to the problem of the world’s most boring spectator sport.
"Jim took up one of the memorial booklets and started scribbling his ideas down.
"Eventually, Brian Gilroy asked us to move outside. I came away from the debate feeling that Jim had agreed with my ideas."
Of course, Gavin being the master of persuasion, he had not actually came around to Brolly's way of thinking, but had made him feel heard.
The new changes like keeping three players up the field at all times, and limiting where you can pass the ball back to the keeper, will prevent teams from being too defensive, and there will be much more space for the attacking side to exploit.
However, Brolly believes that it doesn't solve the core problem, which is the sweeper, who is deployed as a spare defender to mark space rather than a player.
"Jim’s Review Committee has now announced their final package of rules and there is no doubt they will improve the game.
"My issue is that it does not solve the sweeper/zonal defence problem, which is what caused all the bother in the first place."
Nonetheless, Gavin has got his way so far, and this Friday we will see the new rules in action for the first time, and if all goes as planned, then they will be officially introduced for the 2025 season.
