GAA President Jarlath Burns has had an eventful beginning to his tenure since starting in February. He passed new legislation allowing rugby and football matches to take place in Croke Park as soon as next month and yesterday was his first major GAA event as president, the league finals.
The former Armagh player watched an absolute barnstormer of a Division 1 final as Derry beat Dublin on penalties to secure their first Division 1 title since 2008.
Before presenting Derry captain Conor Glass the league trophy, Burns gave a very passionate speech, praising Dublin for their efforts but more importantly praising Derry's miraculous rise from playing in the Division 4 final in 2019 to now being reigning Division 1 champions.

Jarlath Burns also gave a great speech after the Division 4 final between Laois and Leitrim on Saturday which also got great acclaim for his Gaeilge.
