Jackie Tyrrell has been ruled out of Kilkenny's All Ireland semi-final clash with Waterford after suffering a stress fracture in his foot.
The highly experienced 32-year-old turned on his ankle in training on Saturday and a subsequent MRI scan confirmed the worst, meaning it will be around four weeks before Tyrrell can return to action.
Tyrrell's absence is a loss to both the team and the fashion cred of the GAA in general but teammate Shane Prendergast should make a more than able replacement; in terms of the hurling that is. Prendergast came on for Tyrrell in the Leinster final against Galway and will surely get the nod to start at corner back in a few weeks time.
