This week, Balls.ie scribe Conor Neville headed out on a two-week holiday. We presumed Conor had planned a restful fortnight to be spent in front of 1980s GAA programmes. We did not expect to learn - via one of our competitors - that Conor has instead decamped in his native Longford in order to make a shock bid to become their next football manager.
Here are the facts.
Conor Neville is a Longford man.
Longford are looking for someone to manage their intercounty footballers.
Conor Neville knows a thing or two about gaelic games
News broke today in the42.ie that Longford are interviewing a man who looks suspiciously like Conor Neville (operating under the pseudonym Denis Connerton, the name of a man who conveniently managed Longford in the last decade.)
We knew Longford would look to go back to the drawing board after being shellacked by Dublin in Croker. But we did not expect something like this.
Conor, of course, is a well-known in Longford for his student comedy exploits.
Conor Neville could not be reached for comment today. We at Balls.ie endorse Conor Neville as the next Longford manager.
