Another blow struck in the battle to implant hurling in the American consciousness as Cork man Donal O'Cathain appeared on the US TV show 'Man Caves'.

He wanted his kids playroom transformed into a lounge area in the style of an Irish pub. Hurling was a constant motif.

'I have no idea how hurling works,' one of the loudmouthed presenters confirmed at the outset.

By the end of their strenuous game of indoor hurling, the two hosts had seen the light, rightly proclaiming it to be 'a cool sport' and 'an awesome sport'.

Interestingly, their hurling 'tutor' had an American accent. He asserted that both ice hockey and field hockey trace their origins to hurling.

We should note that Donny - the Corkman - looked pretty nifty. He had the casual elegance of one who has played the game for many years.
