A heartwarming tradition every year is the visit of the All-Ireland winning team to Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, as successful winners arrive cup in hand to spend some time with sick children.
After their victorious final win over Tyrone, the Dublin footballers visited the hospital last Monday and gave the children and their families a thoroughly enjoyable morning. However, in the aftermath of that visit the parent of one young patient issued a plea on social media. Young Dublin fan Mark Lee had missed the visit because he was transferred to a bed in a different ward and his mother, Fiona, took to Facebook to ask for help.
Thanks to the power of social media, the message reached Philly McMahon and Darren Daly who took it upon themselves to return to Crumlin's Children Hospital with a Dublin jersey and the Sam Maguire Cup. Mark's mother confirmed there had been a happy ending and thanked the pair for their touching efforts.
From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank everyone who was involved in getting Marko to meet the Dublin players and hold the cup and especially Darren Daly and Philly McMahon, you've made our boys smile from ear to ear and for that, we can't thank you enough.
