Form Guide
Galway will look to avenge some disappointing displays against Mayo in the past two Connacht finals. Having led the final at half time last year, Mayo were still able to run out comfortable winners in Croke Park. Galway will want to make a statement this weekend with victory over their biggest rivals.
Both sides will hope to bounce back from the disappointment of losing league finals. An abysmal second half display from Mayo lead to a 15-point defeat to Kerry, in a game they were completely outclassed in. While they were in the game until half time, their defence problems were fully taken advantage of by Kerry, especially David Clifford. While some believe Mayo had one eye on this clash, a positive performance and result is needed to kick start their championship hopes.
Galway also suffered a league final loss, as they a one point defeat to Roscommon. Despite losing a thrilling final, Padraig Joyce’s side will be positive as they achieved promotion back to division one.
