Eddie Moroney might be on his birth certificate, but the GAA fraternity know him only as Effin Eddie. He's the proud Tipperary man who can illuminate even the drabbest of local GAA matches with his abrasive and equally hilarious commentary.
He's responsible for delivering a few quality lines including:
Ara for jaysus sake that's a f$#king penalty
And last night, he got the cameo he so richly deserves, when he closed out the GAA documentary Pairc Life. The programme questions whether we should consider upgrading the GAA from an amateur to a professional sport and when the mic is passed to Effin Eddie, a waterfall of emotion pours out.
Keep the GAA alive tis all over the planet. They're playing it in the sandy beaches, they're playing hurling in the water. Straight from the heart boys, keep this game alive
And here's some vintage Effin Eddie to demonstrate why we need his insight into the GAA in our lives.
His infamy has even stretched to other sports. Here he is enjoying a bite with members of the Munster Rugby squad
