Rumours are spreading that plans are well underway for GAA and Rugby players to attend a NFL kicking trial before the season starts proper in the US next September. New Zealand based rugby blog - heavensgame came first with the news but as of this afternoon it remains unconfirmed.
While sure to be oppossed by the upper echelons of both sporting organisations, the potential earnings as a NFL place kicker would make it an easy monetary decision for players from both codes.
It's not the first time an Irish Rugby player has been linked with such a move, back in 2003, Ronan O'Gara rejected talk of a move to the Miami Dolphins. ROG coincidentally was born in Miami but rejected the opportunity as he was committed to Ireland and Munster at the time, but it might seem a more attractive proposition with both team a little less committed to him these days.
