It would be fair to say that Clare's fortunes have taken a bit of a hit since that thrilling All Ireland win in 2013. Davy Fitzgerald had brought through a young team that brought Liam McCarthy back to the Banner for the first time since 1997.

One of the key members of that 2013 squad was Colm Galvin. The now 22 year old midfielder claimed an All Star for his performances and Clare would have been confident that they had a talisman in the centre of the park for years to come.

That could always have been the case but for this year at least, it seemed like Davy Fitz would have to do without Galvin's presence in his squad. The 22 year old took the decision to travel to Boston at the end of April and forego this Championship campaign. However, the Clare People are today reporting that Galvin has cut short his Stateside sojourn and is back on Clare soil.

The 2-15 to 1-19 loss to Limerick may have been the worst possible start to the Championship for Clare but with Galvin now back in the fold and a very winnable qualifier draw against Offaly on the horizon, things are certainly look up for Davy and the Clare squad.
