Garrycastle beat Ratoath by two points in a high-scoring game Leinster club football quarter-final in Mullingar on Sunday.

The victory brought to a close a day of joy for Garrycastle manager Gary Dolan. In the early hours of Sunday morning, his wife Emer gave birth to a baby boy.

"It's great for him," Gary's brother Dessie - who scored three points in the game - told RTÉ Radio One.

His wife Emer had a baby at three o'clock this morning. He was in hospital and got a couple of hours sleep.

He went down with his young lads, Darragh and David, just before the match today. He rushed back for the match and picked me up.

"It's a great lift for our family," added Dessie Dolan.

"Football is a minor thing when things like that happen. We really enjoyed today and it was a great celebration.

"We were waiting to see how things were going. We weren't sure if Gary was going to be here at all. We got the text that the baby was delivered at three o'clock this morning.

"That was good. Gary got the green light."

Garrycastle will face Ballyboden St Enda's in the Leinster semi-final.
