Very few Irish sports fans were celebrating on Saturday evening.
Ireland were humbled at Euro 2016 by Belgium. In South Africa, the Springboks came back from 19-3 down to agonisingly inflict defeat on Ireland.
Heading Castlebar, Galway fans were fearing the worst. It turned out to be Mayo supporters who departed McHale Park with their day laced with even more anguish.
Galway pulled off a shock defeat against their neighbours in the Connacht semi-final. A 55th minute goal scored by Tom Flynn separated the sides at the end as Galway won 1-12 to 0-12.
After the final whistle, Galway players celebrated like it was 1998.
