Clare's remarkable dominance of the All-Ireland U21 Hurling Championship continued in Semple Stadium on Saturday. The Banner men survived a late rally from Wexford to claim their third straight title by a score of 2-20 to 3-11.
Captain Tony Kelly, who scored seven points from play, was the driving force behind Clare's success. But they were made to work for it as three second half goals from Wexford left the scores much tighter than they may have been.
The 15,081 strong attendance saw Wexford get to within a goal but that was as close as it got as Clare pulled away again in the final ten minutes to run out six points to the good.
