The 2020 Gaelic football season is already underway and with the implementation of significant new rules, a host of absent prospects and plenty of managerial changes it looks set to be extremely eventful.

There is plenty of cause for excitement. Here are some of the new faces who can deliver it.

Paudie Clifford

The Kerry man and older brother of David has been included in the Kerry squad after a superb club season with East Kerry. Clifford's pedigree was obvious in the Sigerson Cup with UCC and his man of the match showing in the club final against Dr Crokes only added to the justification for his inclusion.

Peter Keane has an array of attacking talent already at his disposal but played the majority of the year with an unconventional forward, such as Gavin White or Brian Ó Beaglaoich, picked amongst his front six.

Given Clifford's performances at half-forward for his club, there is certainly a spot available should he take it. However, he faces stiff competition with plenty of young prospects like Paul O'Shea and David Shaw knocking on the door.

Peadar Ó Cofaigh Byrne

Measuring 6'6'' and weighing in at almost 100kg, the Dubliner had a great year at U20 before progressing to the senior side. He made his debut against Tyrone in the final round of the Super 8s and has all the attributes to form a powerful partnership with Brian Fenton in Dessie Farrell's engine room.

Oisin Mullin

James Horan had success introducing new faces to the Mayo squad during his return to the helm and can continue that process in 2020. A man close to breaking through was Oisin Mullin, who made the squad during their semi-final against Dublin.

A talented corner-back, Mullin showed his attacking prowess for Michael Solan's U20s last season with a great goal in the Connacht semi-final. The Kilmaine club man is set to be a welcome addition to Mayo's defensive options for this year.

John Daly

The Mountbellow man only made his debut last year but already looks a mainstay in the centre of Galway's defence. John is the son of former Tribesmen boss Val Daly and brother of attacking talent, Michael.

The calls for evolution under Pádraic Joyce are well-founded and Daly's ability on both sides of the ball mean he can be a key part of that.

Aaron Mulligan

Séamus McEnaney's second spell in charge of Monaghan got off to a bright start last weekend as they overcame Derry 1-17 to 0-14. That tie featured a star showing from man of the match Aaron Mulligan who finished with 1-4.

The youngster has been earmarked for quite a while after some sensational shooting at schools' grade. He was also named in the 2018 minor team of the year. Time is on his side but McEnaney looks set to give Mulligan opportunities this year.

Oisin O'Neill

The Crossmaglen Rangers forward made his debut for Armagh way back in 2017 but a hip injury interrupted his run and recently he has he had to watch from the sidelines while younger brother Rian thrived in Kieran McGeeeney's side.

O'Neill expressed his desire to force his way back in last November and he kicked o-3 last weekend as Armagh overcame Cavan in the Dr McKenna Cup. Both brothers have the potential to have a big impact in 2020.

Damien Gore

3-5 against Kerry is a serious feat no matter what the competition when you're from Cork. Ronan McCarthy included several U20 All-Ireland winners in the team that swept their rivals aside in the McGrath Cup clash last weekend.

Gore had featured under McCarthy previously and after success with the U20s looks set to kick on again. Cork need a strong league campaign to dismiss the threat of league 2. Should they fail to gain promotion from Division 3, defeat in their Munster semi-final against Kerry would knock them out of the All-Ireland championship.
