While club action around the country has been brought to halt, the scheduled return of the GAA's inter-county season is only around the corner.
The Allianz National Leagues are set to resume on October 17th, with two rounds of fixtures before due to be held before we enter the championship.
It will be a welcome addition to the sporting calendar for GAA supporters, even if they won't be able to attend the games in person. Luckily, we have a solution to this problem.
The GAA have announced that all non-televised Allianz National League games will be broadcast live on GAAGO, with a very reasonable price of €5 per fixture. The streams will be available both in Ireland and abroad, while the games will be shown for free in hospitals and care homes.
That will be a total of up to 23 games available on the platform in the coming weeks, and you can sign up via the GAAGO website or the GAAGO iOS and Android apps.
Games from every division of the Allianz Football League will be available, as will the finals of the Allianz Hurling League Divisions 2A, 2B and 3B
Speaking after the news was announced, GAA President John Horan said:
Providing viewing access to games, albeit through a screen rather than in person for many of our members, has been of utmost importance in recent months and GAAGO is first step into the domestic streaming market for upcoming Allianz League matches is a continuation of this endeavour.
We are delighted to balance broadcast coverage of our remaining fixtures on GAAGO and our linear TV partner stations TG4, eirSport and RTÉ.
The distribution of complimentary match passes to hospitals and care homes in partnership with relevant GAA County Boards is also a very important and positive development.
