Interesting news on the Irish sports funding front. The Irish Sports Council has announced that GAA players will receive €900,000 in funding this year and next.

As Irish Olympian Barry Murphy tweeted, this is change of strategy in funding for the Sports Council, with funding being moved away from athletes competing for the Olympics.

Kieran Cunningham of the Star has said the grants will be distributed to intercounty players in €400 - €700 allotments.
