The GAA are set to address the issue that unfolded this year which saw Offaly and Wexford forced to play four games in a row.

The new hurling Championship structure saw two teams in each province, Offaly and Wexford in Leinster and Tipperary and Waterford in Munster, scheduled to play four games without a break which resulted in discontent amongst those affected.

In Leinster, both Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald and Offaly manager Kevin Martin cited the impact no break had on the physical condition of their players. Both teams lost their fourth game, against Kilkenny and Dublin respectively.

Now, per today's Irish Independent, the Leinster council have asked all five teams whether they want one free weekend for all counties or a staggered competition that would mean only one game would take place on certain weekends.

All counties must submit an answer by Monday.

It comes after Munster GAA already announced they would use the rest week option and start a week earlier next year. Therefore, the first round of games will begin on week ending May 12th.
