Meath and Kerry faced off in a GAA All-Ireland round robin fixture at Tailteann Park this afternoon, although some supporters had a few issues when attempting to watch the game on television.
Kerry entered the game hoping to secure their second victory of the group stage, having easily dispatched of Monaghan in their opening game. In contrast, Meath would suffer a sizeable defeat at the hands of Monaghan.
The game was broadcast on RTÉ 2, although many who tuned into the channel had an issue telling the teams apart.

Viewers have issue distinguishing between Meath & Kerry on TV
With Meath and Kerry both wearing green as their home colour, the Munster county were forced into a kit change as the visiting team to Tailteann Park.
However, with their changed strip being navy in colour, it was still very difficult to tell them apart in wide angle TV shots.
It is very difficult to tell those Meath and Kerry players apart on TV.
Surely they could have anticipated a clash between dark green and navy? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/GheRv63fYi— Balls.ie (@ballsdotie) June 2, 2024
Meath's assigned away jersey is 2024 is also navy in colour, but they could have used their white or yellow goalkeeper kit for outfield players in this fixture had they chosen to do so.
Quite a few viewers were struggling to distinguish between the two sides.
That’s a stupid colour clash again between @MeathGAA and @Kerry_Official jerseys on Navan. Easily avoidable.

Colours are VERY similar #meath #kerry #gaa pic.twitter.com/4Jw9jWOZBX

Meath in dark green and Kerry in navy isn’t ideal. On the wide angle shots it’s quite hard to tell the difference between the teams.

I think Meath need yellow jerseys unless it's a cunning plan to keep score down.

Surely meath could have went with the yellow kit. Colour clash isn't great for tv with kerry

Colour clashes have been an annoying (and usually avoidable) trend in inter-county GAA games down through the years, although steps have been taken to reverse this in recent seasons.
Teams certainly change their jerseys with far more frequency than we have seen in the past, although it does still happen. The Ulster final between Derry and Armagh in 2023 is one of the more well-known examples.
Those teams were required to change their jerseys for this afternoon's meeting as a result of the backlash to the kit choices in that particular fixture.
Out of all of the issues currently present in the GAA, kit clashes is hardly the most pressing one. Still, it is an annoying one for television viewers.
