When it comes to what makes a good GAA jersey, a lot of it comes down to personal preference. In saying that, it is clear that some counties stand above the others.
Championship season in both codes is now in full swing, with every county having taken to the pitch at this point. With that in mind, what better time to rank every county's jersey for this year?
Here's how we ranked the efforts from all 32 counties (plus London and New York), which is sure to cause plenty of debate.
2023 Inter-County GAA Jersey Rankings
34. Longford
There is nothing offensive about this effort from Longford, but it's incredibly forgettable.
They could be doing a lot more with that colour scheme.
33. Leitrim
Leitrim have consistently performed poorly in our rankings, with 2023 being no exception.
It should be a lot more vibrant considering their county colours.
32. Louth
Similar to the Longford jersey, this one just doesn't have enough going on.
31. Laois
Laois were going for a retro effort here, but they didn't pull it off as well as some of the other counties higher up in the rankings.
The white strip across the chest if off puttingly narrow. We don't know why that annoys us so much.
30. Roscommon
Roscommon have had some lovely jerseys down through the years, but this isn't really one of them.
It's a bit messy.
29. Kerry
One of the big under performers in this year's rankings.
The Kerry jersey is an institution in the GAA, but the nod to their crest in the faded background just takes away from what otherwise would have been a smart effort.
28. Dublin
Another county that will be disappointed with their position.
Dublin have had much more striking kits over the last couple of decades.
27. Meath
There is a lot going on in this one and it doesn't really work as you would hope.
26. New York
New York have had this jersey for some time and it could do with a refresh.
There is a lot of potential to put together a top class design for them.
25. Fermanagh
This jersey would have worked better without the strange pattern in the background.
A cleaner look would have seen it vault up the rankings.
24. Antrim
This is better than some other Antrim efforts in the past, but it's still not enough for it to crack the top 20.
23. Donegal
The inclusion of the clubs on the upper panel of this one is a nice touch, but it is otherwise disappointing.
You would have hoped for a bit more creativity to go along with that aspect.
22. Sligo
Sligo have had some magnificent jerseys over the last decade or so, but this is not among their best ones.
It's just not eye-catching enough.
21. London
London are another team that could do with an update.
This one is okay but it would be great to see them with a top class design.
20. Carlow
Carlow jerseys are hit and miss, but this is actually among their better efforts.
It would have ranked higher if not for the needless pinstripes on the green panel.
19. Limerick
There isn't much wrong with this one, but you would have hoped for better from Limerick.
18. Monaghan
Not one of Monaghan's better looks.
They have certainly had much nicer ones down through the years.
17. Tyrone
Tyrone have placed very high in past editions of these rankings. However, this one doesn't quite manage it.
It's lacking something that we can't quite put our finger on.
16. Kilkenny
A classic look for Kilkenny, although it's only enough for a mid-table position in this list.
15. Cork
The white on the sleeves are a nice look on this one. Otherwise, it's rather plain.
It still does enough to crack the top half.
14. Waterford
A decent effort here from Waterford, who are the only county to have their kits manufactured by Azzurri.
13. Galway
Another classic look, Galway can be fairly pleased with the jersey for this year.
The white strips across the front work quite well.
12. Armagh
This jersey is a slight change for Armagh, with the orange colour not quite as vibrant as we have come to expect.
It actually works quite well, with this being a clean cut look.
11. Cavan
Cavan just about miss out on a place in the top ten, although this is a lovely bit of kit.
10. Clare
We're big fans of this one.
Clare's offerings have been a mixed bag in recent years, with this certainly among their best.
9. Tipperary
A retro look, this one is a nod to great Tipp teams of the past.
The portrait of Michael Hogan on the sleeve is a lovely touch.
8. Wicklow
Wicklow have quite often found themselves near the bottom of our rankings in recent years, although they are deserving of a place in the top ten in 2023.
This is a beautiful effort.
7. Derry
Another jersey with a retro feel, Derry can be pleased with their position this year.
It is certainly a classic look.
6. Wexford
Wexford rarely disappoint, with this jersey being no exception.
That colour scheme always works brilliantly.
5. Offaly
This yet another effort with a retro feel in our top ten.
Offaly certainly look the part in this one.
4. Kildare
Clean and simple, yet eye-catching. The sponsor also works really well.
It was unlucky to miss out on the top three.
3. Westmeath
Westmeath actually topped our rankings for 2022 with this jersey, although two new entries have knocked it down a couple of spots this year.
It's a beautiful effort.
2. Mayo
In classic Mayo fashion, they have come up just short in our rankings to take second place.
They were given real consideration for the top spot but ultimately just miss out. Still, it's an incredible jersey.
1. Down
Here it is folks, the nicest home jersey on show in 2023.
Down have had quite a few excellent ones down through the years, with this one perhaps the best of the lot.
