We decided to try and find what All-Ireland winning minor team within the last 25 years has the greatest legacy. In short, which triumphant minor team from has featured the most amount of future winners of the Sam Maguire.
The results are pretty conclusive. Tyrone are absolutely phenomenal when it comes to keeping a core group of players together and achieving great things at both senior and underage level.
1. Tyrone 1998 - 9 senior All-Ireland winners
2. Tyrone 2001 - 8 senior All-Ireland winners
3. Dublin 2012 - 6 senior All-Ireland winners
4. Tyrone 2004 - 5 senior All-Ireland winners
=5. Kerry 1994 - 3 senior All-Ireland winners
=5. Meath 1990 - 3 senior All-Ireland winners
Honourable mentions also go to the Dublin team of 2012 which featured future All-Ireland winner Cormac Costello and the Cork team of 2000, which included none other than Noel O'Leary.
Are there any other special minor teams from the years before 1990 that particularly stand out? Get involved with the discussion by giving us a shout on Facebook or Twitter.
