Waterford full-forward Barry O'Sullivan and Cork fullback Damien Cahalane clashed early in yesterday's Munster Hurling Championship replay.
O'Sullivan struck Cahalane in the ribs with the butt of his hurley in the opening minute.
On The Sunday Game, Ger Loughnane did not make much sense when talking about the incident. The former Clare manager said that a red card would have been harsh, citing that the incident occurred in the first minute and that Cahalane was struck in a "place that wasn't going to cause major damage" as mitigating factors.
He also said that if Johnny Ryan was going to give a card it would have to be red but that he was correct not to dish out any punishment.

Some confusing logic there, Ger.
