It must be just a tiny little bit dispiriting as a player to be crowned Six Nations champions, be part of the best team Europe but know that your victory will never be as popular as some kids on tricycles driving circles around Ryan Tubridy.
Four sporting events made the top 10 most watched shows on RTÉ in 2014. Ireland being crowned Six Nations champions with a 22-20 win in Paris makes the list at number six having been watched by 878,000 people. That was watched by just 20,000 more than the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina.
The All-Ireland football final and the drawn All-Ireland hurling final both just about scrape into the top 10, being watched by 826,000 and 784,000 respectively. There is no place on the list though for the All-Ireland hurling final replay.
