The Balls.ie economists have figured out a domestic solution to our woeful woes.
From Hoganstand.com:
The GPA has claimed that inter-county footballers and hurlers each generate €100,000 annually for the Irish economy.
From Reuters:
European officials are weighing a rescue package of 80 billion to 100 billion euros for Ireland
Ok. For the sake of math, let's put 20 men on a GAA panel. Let's also estimate on the high end and say Ireland's bailout will be €100m.
This means an intercounty team brings in €2m a year. So why are we about to borrow €100,000,000,000 and surrendering our sovereignty when it's clear all we need is 50,000 new senior intercounty GAA teams???
Take that, McWilliams.
