Amid all the hullabaloo following the weekend's GAA action, another football qualifier draw took place this morning.
The winners of Round 1B's qualifiers on Sunday went into one half of the draw. They were Cavan, who beat Offaly, Armagh, who beat Fermanagh, Carlow, who overcame London, and Wexford, who snuck past Limerick.
On the other side of the draw were the other four beaten provincial semi-finalists. It was a slightly stronger pot as it featured Monaghan, Tipperary, Westmeath and Leitrim.
Monaghan fell flat against Down, but they can rectify that if they manage to overcome Banty's Wexford in the highlight of the draw.
Cavan will have mixed feelings about being drawn against Tipperary, who were beaten by Mayo in last year's All-Ireland semi-finals. Getting the home draw might just tip the balance in favour of the Lake County though.
Westmeath will have to get over a record-breaking defeat to Dublin as they were drawn against Armagh, who were defeated by Down in the Ulster Championship.
Carlow's dominance of Irish sport will continue if they can overcome Leitrim at Netwatch Cullen Park, perhaps the best possible draw they could have gotten. The O'Rourke County did defeat Carlow by two points in the National Football League in March, however.
Here's the draw in full:
Wexford vs Monaghan
Westmeath vs Armagh
Carlow vs Leitrim
Cavan vs Tipperary
All ties are set for the 8th or 9th of July, with dates and home venues to be confirmed by a separate draw later in the day.
