The GAA championship is absolutely motoring now, with the Round 3A Football qualifier draw taking place this morning on RTE's Morning Ireland. Des Cahill was joined by former Offaly dual player Michael Duignan for the draw.
Clare were the only ones in the draw who could honestly say they had it easy in their round 2 qualifier. They were clinical in beating Laois.
Mayo needed extra time to beat Derry after kicking 17 wides - with Derry's goalkeeper grabbing all the headlines. Donegal managed to stumble past the qualifier kings from Longford, while Meath had to clear off the line with the final kick of the game against Sligo.
The draw in full reads:
Meath vs Donegal
Clare vs MayoTeams drawn first will have home advantage. Official dates, times and venues will be confirmed by the CCC later on today.
The winners of those ties will be put into the draw for Round 4A - where losing Munster finalists Cork are already waiting. The loser of the Connacht final between Galway and Roscommon on Sunday will also go into the pot.
Also, this weekend are the Round 2B qualifiers. Which means we'll have a Round 3B AND a Round 4A draw next Monday, with the 4B draw happening on Monday fortnight.
God we love a good draw on a Monday morning in the office.
Meath have stuttered their way through the Championship so far, but will need to up it if they want to get past Donegal. Clare will fancy their chances against Mayo based off yesterday's showings.
