Over 60 members of Morley GAA Club traveling home for Christmas will be taking part in the first Ireland v Australia club game in Laois at the end of this month. The club based in Perth will have a mix of their senior and intermediate players lining out on the 29th of December to take on St Joseph's of Laois. Morely Gaels won't be taking the tie lightly as they'll be eager to show how the standard of football has increased in recent years.
The idea spearheaded by Jay O' Reilly, PRO and Manager of Morley Gaels Senior Team, was created to get both the name of the club known back here in Ireland, and also to test the teams ability against an established senior team in Ireland.
The two teams have a strong connection with 8 Joseph's players playing with Morley Gaels over the past few years. Also Morley were extremely supportive of former Joe's player Enda Butler who became extremely ill earlier in the year.
Morley Gaels GAA was founded in 1975 and to date has over 190 members. The club has four competitive teams, two mens teams competing at senior and intermediate, and two ladies teams both competing at senior level.
The game will take place in Kellyville Co.Laois the 29th of December at 2:30pm and promises to be a great encounter.
