The National League semi-finals earlier this month were a largely forgettable affair.

Both Kerry and Dublin easily beat Roscommon and Donegal respectively, progressing to this weekend's final.

Still, some fans wanted a memento of their day out at Croker. Unfortunately for them, two hustlers/cowboys/buckos/cute hoors were ready and willing to offer those fans a chance to part with their money for said memento.

According to the Irish Examiner, two individuals posing as Croke Park employees offered patrons an opportunity to pose with the Sam Maguire Cup. However, it was a replica, not the real thing. The pair were also taking cash from the fans.

Gardaí ensured the rouse was not allowed to continue for a prolonged period, asking the individuals to move on, though apparently took no further action.

You do have to partially admire their entrepreneurship.

It's probably not unfair to suggest that the fans most likely to be duped were from Roscommon. After all, Dublin, Kerry and Donegal have all had possession of the cup far more recently than the Rossies. Roscommon fans would not be as familiar with the real thing. Their last All-Ireland victory came more than 70 years ago.
