Derry's Eoin McEvoy is believed to be among the top targets for AFL clubs sourcing talent from Ireland.
AFL trials have reportedly taken place in the ALSAA sports complex near Dublin airport in recent weeks, with Derry defender McEvoy one of the most coveted prospects among a talented group of young players.
That's according to a report in the Irish Independent.
The traditional AFL combine will take place on the first week in October with McEvoy set to try-out Down Under, along with Dublin's David Colbert, a former county minor footballer and Irish u20 rugby international.
McEvoy, Colbert and co. impressed after trials with a 2km time trial and 20m sprint test among the barometers.
Derry defender Eoin McEvoy has become a staple of the Oak Leaf county's senior line-up in recent years.
The Magherafelt club man was brilliant as they claimed National League glory this year, scoring 2-2 in the final and he was also a Young Footballer of the Year nominee in 2023, losing out to fellow Derry man Ethan Doherty.
Colbert was a part of the Dublin minor team that lost the 2021 Leinster final to Meath. A Kilmacud Crokes club-man, he has played rugby with Gonzaga college and for Ireland underage teams.
