There was a little over 20 minutes remaining in Saturday's All-Ireland semi-final replay between Kerry and Mayo when referee David Gough made his way towards the Kerry sideline.
A game which saw Gough issue three red cards also saw him banish Kerry selector and maor foirne Liam Hassett from the action.
Speaking on Newstalk's Off The Ball on Monday night, former Tyrone footballer Enda McGinley was critical of Hassett's behaviour on the sideline.
Liam Hassett, I don't know how much the cameras picked it up at home. His behaviour was a bit crazy on the sideline. He eventually got sent to the stand. He was running and spent more time trying to annoy the Mayo players.
Fitzmaurice himself is so composed but if you have a fellow like that who is just so keyed up... I don't think it looked well from the team point of view. I don't think it transferred any sense of control or that they were in charge of things on the pitch. It looked like they were just going around mad men. Fitzmaurice probably has a number of things to look at.
McGinley believes Hassett's demeanour may have encouraged indiscipline among the Kerry players.
I think some players will [think that is the way management wanted them to approach the game]. It would give you licence if you were a bit hot-headed, you would think, 'These boys want me to go a bit mad. If I go a bit mad, they're going to be happy with what they're seeing'. At this level of football, I'm not sure there's room for that.
