A draw at the GAA Museum in Croke Park for the 2019 Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Championships produced some eagerly-anticipated clashes for next year's competition.
The games are scheduled to start on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019. For the Electric Ireland HE GAA Sigerson Cup, matches will once again take place at campuses/local venues. Defending Champions UCD take on Cork IT in the first round while defeated finalists NUIG play St Mary's.
For the Electric Ireland HE GAA Fitzgibbon Cup, the draw produced a remarkably competitive Group A that includes last year's champions UL alongside the side they beat in the 2018 quarter-final, UCC, as well as NUIG and UCD.
Speaking at the draw, UL's Ronan Lynch said he was looking forward to the challenge.
Group of death is probably an appropriate term. It is four huge names in there more so than anything else. Look, it is just something you have to look forward to. They are the big teams and they are the teams you want to mark yourself against.
