Eamonn Fitzmaurice knew Paddy Curtin better than most.
Along with training Curtin in his capacity as Kerry manager, Fitzmaurice was a teammate of the Moyvane man when they were both part of the Feale Rangers panel which won the 2007 Kerry Senior Football Championship. That was the North Kerry divisional side's first county title in 27 years.
News broke today that Curtin had died due to serious head injuries sustained in a car accident in Guatemala last week. Just 26-years-old, Curtin had been in the country for work. Following the accident, he was flown to Florida to receive treatment. It was there that he passed away.
In a post on Twitter on Tuesday, Eamonn Fitzmaurice paid tribute to the man who he was proud to call 'a great teammate, a great friend and a great player'.
I'm still numb on hearing last night's terrible news. Paddy was a great teammate, a great friend and a great player to coach. He was talented, relentless and as tough as nails. He was extremely proud of his family, his club Moyvane and of his career with Liebherr. He will be greatly missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Rest in peace Paddy. pic.twitter.com/9b7TpNq5q4
