Galway have quietly gone about their business this season in the All-Ireland SFC but their reward is a quarter-final showdown with defending champions Dublin.
The 2022 finalists have failed to beat them in the competition since 1934, a statistic which will give them little comfort going into their Croke Park bout.
However, they certainly have the pedigree to cause an upset, boasting two of the most potent attacking threats in the game in the form of Shane Walsh and Damien Comer.
Getting the two on the pitch at the same time has been a major hurdle for Galway, with injuries hampering both players throughout this season.
They have played just four minutes and 45 seconds alongside one another this season so far.
Last time out that trend reared its head once more, with Walsh limping off against Monaghan on a day when Comer was brought in from the bench,
It is a far cry from their 2022 charge, when both men were hugely effective in giving Kerry a real test in the final.
Eamon Fitzmaurice claims Galway can beat Dublin if Comer and Walsh play together
There are still hopes that Walsh could be fit for the game and if so, All-Ireland winning coach Eamon Fitzmaurice believes they could upset The Dubs.
Speaking on The RTE GAA Podcast, Fitzmaurice gave clarity to Galway's terrible luck when it comes to their star players.
There was a piece about how little Damien Comer and Shane Walsh have played together since the 2022 season," Fitzmaurice said.
"They got to an All-Ireland final in 2022. They went down the stretch with Kerry until the 68th minute and a huge factor was the fact the two of them were playing.
"I think since then the amount of football they have played together has been tiny.
"Even the last day again Shane Walsh had the knock to his ankle. He was gone off when Damien Comer came on. Finally we got Comer back.
"In the Connacht final, Comer started the game - Padraic Joyce opted not to start Shane Walsh that day. They played the second half and won that game.
"When they play together they are a different team."
The duo bring a different level to Galway's attack and Fitzmaurice warned it could be enough to beat Dublin - although doing so will be a major ask.
'I think they can (beat Dublin), they absolutely can. But whether they win or not - the Dubs in Croke Park are a different animal and that Mayo game will have brought them on immeasurably.
"They are such a driven group who will be annoyed with how they played individually.
"For Galway to win they will have to be at their absolute best. Can they? Of course they can. But it is going to be an ask for them."
The clash will headline a Saturday double-header with a throw-in time of 6.15pm, following Armagh's meeting with Roscommon.
