Dublin and Donegal's Allianz League clash last night earned the scorn of many of those in attendance. Dublin eventually overcame Donegal by 1-10 to 0-07, in a game marked by remarkably negative Donegal tactics and flashes of ill-discipline.

Both Michae Murphy and James McCarthy were sent off for second yellow cards following a late sliding tackle by the former on the latter, but it was in an incident separate to this which brought the most controversy. McCarthy got involved with Martin McElhinney, and he appeared to thrust his fingers towards McElhinny's eyes. Have a look below:

His fellow Dublin defender Philly McMahon was given a one-match suspension following a similar incident with Kieran Donaghy in last year's All Ireland final.

McCarthy may face retrospective punishment for the incident. Afterwards, Jim Gavin played down the incident, saying that Dublin would have to take the referee's decision and move on.
